When are the re-development works due to commence?

Depending on council approval towards the end of 2020 and the current situation with Covid19, we estimate that the building works will commence in January 2021.

When will Caldicot Leisure Centre re-open?

Based on current information given to us from the contractors we are hopeful that if the works commence in January 2021 we would be looking at a possible full re-opening in September 2021.

What are you doing to Caldicot Leisure Centre during the redevelopment?

Based on the current proposals, Improvements will be made to the changing areas, providing high quality village wet changing facilities with family friendly cubicles, separate male / female changing and individual wet-side changing cubicles.

There will be a new sauna and steam room, both will be accessible from poolside.

The facility will include a new entrance space, with a café offer, a meeting / party room, enhanced pool viewing and a soft play area for children.

The community will be able to access an enhanced fitness offer with a new gym, separate fitness and spin studios and a toning suite.

Improvements will also be made to the lighting and tiles in the pool area, new lighting in the sports hall. 22 new car parking spaces and external changing to facilitate the outdoor pitches.

How will the closure affect members?

MonLife will write to everyone affected, setting out the process and offering alternative options where possible once they have been assessed and agreed.

Where can I find up to date information regarding the scheduled maintenance works?

We will provide regular communication in relation to the works via numerous channels including:

My children attend swimming lessons, where will they swim during the closure?

MonLife, where possible, will make suitable alternative arrangements and notification will be sent to all parents and guardians. 

If your child swims with their school, MonLife / Mon CC will be working with schools to determine what the options will be for this.


Will the new leisure centre be suitable for someone with a Disability?

Yes, the leisure centre will be fully compliant with the Equalities Act 2010

The re-development will include: 

·       Accessible gym equipment.

·       Open studios with easy access.

·       Accessible parking spaces.

·       Automatic Doors

·       Changing Places Room located in the Changing Village.

Will there be a temporary facility provided for the duration of the closure?

MonLife are continuing to explore all potential opportunities ready for when the Leisure Centre closes. As soon as any decision has been made, we will update the website and inform all users.

What will the layout of the gym look like and how many pieces of equipment will there be?

MonLife are still exploring options with regards to the gym layout and its equipment. Once this detail has been finalised we willl update the website and inform all users.
