When are the refurbishment works due to commence?
The works are due to start wk. commencing 18th July 2022 although there will be some minor enabling works happening before this date.
Will the leisure centre remain open during the refurbishment?
Yes. The leisure centre will remain open during the refurbishment works, however please be aware that there will be some disruption and additional noise on site whilst the works are ongoing.
When will all the facilities re-open?
Based on current information given to us from the contractors we are hopeful that we will be looking at a full re-opening in early September 2022.
What are you doing to Chepstow Leisure Centre during the refurbishment?
Based on the current proposals the refurbishment of Chepstow Leisure Centre
The proposed new facilities will include:
  • An upgrade to CV fitness Equipment with audio visual functionality
  • New Spin Bikes
  • Refurbishment of existing café and kitchen area
  • Installation of ‘takeaway’ hatch
  • Refurbishment of reception corridor area
What impact will the refurbishment have on current users of the leisure centre?
Due to the nature of the refurbishment, there will unfortunately be an impact on some users. There will be a complete closure of the existing gym, but a temporary fitness offer will be available. All club bookings affected by the works will be contacted separately.
Where can I find up to date information regarding the scheduled maintenance works?

We will provide regular communication in relation to the works via numerous channels including:

  • This website
  • Emails through a newsletter, sign up via our dedicated website.
  • MonLife Social Media Channels.
  • Link via MonLife and Monmouthshire County Council website.
  • By scanning QR codes that is displayed in our Leisure Centres
  • MonLife member mailshots
Will the fitness suite have to close?
Yes. There will be a short period of time on Friday 22nd July (times tbc) where the fitness suite will have to close for us to relocate the equipment to the temporary facility.
Will there be a temporary gym facility provided for the duration of the closure?
Yes. We will be providing a temporary fitness suite offer which will be situated in the Community room on the Ground Floor next to the current gym.
When will the gym relocate to the temporary facility?
It is likely that the temporary facility will be in operation from Saturday 23rd July 2022.
Can I make my way straight into the temporary gym facility?
During the period of ongoing works at Chepstow Leisure Centre we ask all fitness suite users (including direct debit and annual members) to obtain a ticket at reception on their way into the gym.
Will the temporary gym be staffed?
Yes. The temporary gym facility will always have a member of staff present.
Will there be drinking water available in the temporary gym?
There will be no access to the water fountain in the fitness suite but there will be drinking water available in the toilets opposite.
Will there be access to the fitness changing rooms?
There will be no access to the changing rooms in the fitness suite during the refurbishment. Gym users can use the dry changing rooms located on the first floor or come gym ready.


What equipment will be provided in the temporary facility?
Resistance Kit including:
Leg Press, Leg Extension, Leg Curl, Shoulder Press, Vertical Traction, Chess Press, Aductor, Abductor, Lower Back, Skill Mill, Treadmills, Cross Trainer, Vario, Exercise Bike, Spin Bike, Top XT, Concept 2 Rower and Max Racks.
The kit not moving across will include the fixed Cable Tower and the Dual Adjustable Pully due to not being able to fix to the temporary gym flooring.
What will the layout of the new gym look like?
Proposals for the new gym layout can be seen here Plans – Chepstow Leisure Centre – Monlife Leisure Developments. We will be including the latest Technogym equipment. In addition to this there will be new spin bikes.

Will I still have access to the sauna situated in the fitness suite?
There will be no access to the sauna in the fitness suite. However, if you are a full member you can access the sauna upstairs using your membership card.
Will there be any amendments to the current fitness class timetable?
All fitness classes will be carrying on as normal during the refurbishment works.
Will the National Exercise Referral Scheme be available?
The Exercise Referral Scheme for Chepstow will continue being delivered as normal.


Will there be any impact on the Learn 2 Swim programme?
Swimming lessons will run as normal during the refurbishment works however there may be a time where access to the pool may be limited. All parents will be notified of this change as soon as the dates have been confirmed.
Will TMG still be running at Chepstow Leisure Centre this Summer?
Yes! TMG will still be running however due to the refurbishment limited numbers are in place so advance booking is required and spaces will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
